WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
RCV/Top 4 makes it more difficult for voters to vote
• You have to choose 4 candidates instead of 1 for each race AND you have to rank them
• There are no party affiliations. Anyone can run as a Republican, Democrate OR candidates can choose not have a party affiliation at all.
• You have to conduct exhaustive research on an unknown and unlimited number of candidates in multiple races
RCV/Top4 makes it more difficult and expensive to conduct elections
• It is more expensive to print ballots because RCV/Top 4 requires multi-page ballots
• Voters have longer lines at the polling places because now you must vote for 4 people in each race rather than one person
• Tabulation times are increased because they must reassign all of the votes of the candidates who are eliminated at the bottom until they get someone who has 50% of the votes
When Montanans are informed about the disastrous effects of RCV/Top 4, a majority of Montanans oppose CI-126, including Independents and Democrats.
